In the respect of the evidence that follows, I strongly feel I can quickly become a positive contributor to the NHS team and the values everyone within the organization is required to adhere to in their daily work.
The skills and qualities I possess include an ability to always put patients first in everything I do whilst providing safe, effective, and appropriate diagnostic and care. I am somebody who will always follow my training whilst adhering to NHS working practices and operational procedures. Within this NHS role, I understand I will have a duty to ensure both myself and my work colleagues are safe at all times and that I follow all regulatory guidelines and procedures, especially in respect of maintaining confidence, safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety and conducting risk assessments.
I possess excellent concentration skills and I have the ability to work in challenging and unpleasant situations as and when required whilst maintaining a strong and resilient mindset. I will always use effective communication skills that are tailored to the situation I am working in, and I will use tact, empathy, and persuasion skills as and when required. I can embrace change positively and adapt to it on a regular basis as this ensures the NHS is able to provide a consistently high standard of service throughout the year. Finally, I will always take responsibility within my role for maintaining competence through a process of continuous learning, improvement, and development.
Over the year, I have gained considerable work and life experiences that are a match for the job description. For instance, in my previous role, I had to communicate and deal with people daily, often having to listen to them carefully, ask them appropriate questions, and then think quickly to provide a suitable solution to their needs. Whilst carrying out my duties at work I always follow my training and I remain focused on the task at hand. During another recent situation, I was communicating with a patient who was becoming frustrated and irate. I remained calm, I listened to their concerns, and I then intervene at an appropriate time by explaining how I was going to resolve their issue in a timely manner.
Throughout my work, I always focus on putting patients and customers first and I ensure that I represent the organization I am employed by in a positive manner. These transferable experiences will enable me to always provide a first-class level of service to NHS patients.
I am applying for this position within the NHS because I believe the role is a perfect match for my own skills, qualities, experiences, and ambitions. I am seeking long-term employment with an organization that has a proud history of achievement, dedication, and commitment and I want to work alongside other like-minded, resourceful professionals who are all striving to achieve the same goal. Working for NHS will be both challenging and highly rewarding, and providing I carry out my work to exacting standards by always focusing on providing a first-class patient service, I will have a job for life alongside a great team of people who genuinely want to make a difference in the work they are doing.
The strengths I have are many and varied, including an ability to work hard under pressure, a desire to provide quality service, and a passion for delivering outstanding patient care. I am extremely resourceful, and I am someone who enjoys working as a part of a team to achieve a common goal. I am highly organized and can plan tasks effectively to make sure they are successful. Also, I can work alone as well as a part of a team. I am a strong communicator, both face to face and via telephone. I set myself a high standard and feel I can be a competent employee for the NHS who will always follow rules and procedures and make patient care a priority.
There are numerous things I can bring to NHS that I believe will be of benefit to the organization. I am a hard worker, and someone who enjoys working as part of a team to achieve a common goal. I enjoy being busy at work and I have a flexible approach which means I can be able to cover extra shifts and help at short notice as and when required. I am a compassionate person who believes that everyone should receive the same level of quality service, regardless of who they are. I can also be trusted with confidential information, and I fully understand the external pressures healthcare organizations and hospitals are under. Finally, I am a loyal and committed person who will work hard to learn the role quickly with a view to carrying out my role with consistency, professionalism, and with a focus on quality patient care.
One of the main things that set me apart from others is the fact my work is always focused entirely on meeting the values that are laid down by the healthcare trust I am working for. I see the core values of respect and dignity, commitment to quality of care, compassion, improving lives, and working together for patients and everyone counts vital in my daily work. I believe other factors that set me apart include my ability to remain entirely calm in difficult and stressful situations; my passion for continuous improvement, my ability to get up and running in the role quickly, and my unwavering passion for ensuring a first-class service is always provided.

I would like to emphasize that I would be a suitable candidate for the position of both CT and MRI Radiographer. I hold a Master’s degree in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology from a reputable university and I am currently a registered Radiographer in Indian Society of Radiographers and Technologists and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I now possess UK NARIC certificate as a proof of overseas academic qualification and English language ability. Working in your esteemed organization would allow me to broaden my knowledge and technical abilities. I now possess 3 years of experience both in CT and MRI modalities. Also, COVID vaccinated. I am quite familiar with the operating and safety procedures of MRI to perform high quality diagnostic examinations in a diverse range of specialist procedures. I can say with confidence that I have learned nearly everything there is to know about MRI, including the fundamental theoretical events happening at atomic levels and their interaction with magnetic fields, the generation of magnetic fields from electromagnets, the classification of magnetic materials, the creation of resonance under specific conditions, MR safety, MR suite design, protocols to adhere while setting an MR layout, MR instrumentation, the significance of MR sequences, patient positioning for almost every study, modification of MR sequences, and many others. Because of the MRI's strong magnetic field, safety is the first thing that strikes to mind as it is being the utmost importance. During my internship, I received specialized attention and instruction in patient, personnel, and public safety precautions as we shall deal with all types of circumstances regardless of time. I was also taught about the effects of magnetic field strength on various items depending on the material composed of. My main objectives at work are to provide excellent patient care, handle patients with care, and ensure patient safety. Communication is very important in conveying and educating patients about their experience for the next few hours of imaging investigation inside MR cage as they might have conditions like claustrophobia. From collecting the detailed history of patients using questionnaires, providing hospital gown, verifying their past surgical history of implants, placement of IV cannulation if required, scanning patients before entering the room using metal detector, providing ear phones, cotton buds, thick sheets, explaining the possibly of occurrence of peripheral nerve stimulation, positioning according to study that is use of different coils, gating and immobilization devices if required, demonstrating the usage of emergency buzzer in hand and to explain the post procedural instructions to be followed if any, are all the responsibilities of an imaging technologist that I generally practice. I am expertise in using the following MRI machines, GE Signa HDxt 1.5 T, GE Signa Architect 3.0 T, SIEMENS Magnetom Avanto 1.5 T, and SIEMENS Magnetom Essenza 1.5 T. I am well versed in using GE Advantage workstation 4.4 and 4.7 and SIEMENS Syngo. I can confidently perform cases on MR extremities, dynamic contrast studies on pelvis, brain, abdomen and special studies like MR contrast and non-contrast angiography, neurography, defecography, Enterography, sternum, clavicle, and chest wall, whole body, TM joint in addition to routine MR brain stroke protocol, epilepsy protocol, sella tursica protocol, inner ear, neck, MRCP, spin, etc. individually. When it comes to CT, after learning more about the instrumentational physics, the advantages of CT over x-ray and fluoroscopy modalities, and in my own preferences, I have always preferred CT. I learned how to manage every emergency during my internship, including whole body trauma patients, instead of practicing same protocol to every patient, I can modify the protocol based on the clinical requirements adhering to the ionizing radiation guidelines. Both my educational institution and my current workplace made me feel confident in performing nearly every CT study. We all are aware that CT uses ionizing X-rays, hence I highly prioritize the patient safety. Patient, personnel, and public safety are the three safety categories into which any imaging modality falls upon. Radiographers who have been received training and education regarding the potential risks associated with radiation are responsible for the safety of the patient population. In addition, public safety begins far earlier than just placing signboards and warning lights, during the construction of the modality itself. However, the most important duty of a CT radiographer is to deal with patients in accordance with the intended study. Attention to details such as proper use of immobilization devices, protecting sensitive regions with lead aprons, explaining patients how contrast is going to be administered, and administering sedatives in case of uncooperative patients and new born in order to prevent repeat CT scans are essential. And, patient safety discussions include not just physical modifications but also through CT settings like kV and mAs, activation of dose reduction software like auto mA, etc., and the use of reconstruction algorithms as per ALARA principle and, by respecting the individual's values, preferences, and needs. All of these will help the patient's physical and emotional comfort which is our utmost duty and responsibility.
I have expertise in using the following CT makes, GE Revolution Evo 128-slice, GE Light speed VCT 64-Slice, PHILIPS Brilliance 16 Slice, and, SIEMENS SOMATOM 16-slice. I am well versed in using the GE Advantage workstation 4.7. I am very familiar with RIS and PACS operations such as data transfer strategies, data protection and privacy, generalized troubleshoots and data feeding & review. As I have developed these self-qualities during my post-graduation, working in a team—whether I am leading it or participating in it—is technically easier for me. I am proud to mention that from 2013 - 2015, I participated in the NSS (National Service Scheme), since I was interested in such extracurricular activities. I have worked efficiently in collaborations with diverse grade levels of staff, administrators, and students throughout my internship and in my job. I have also got the experience of attending few conferences and workshops held across India as follows.
Participation in RITE-2018 “Journey Towards Excellence “held at SRIHER, Chennai, Tamilnadu.
Poster presentation of “DEXA” in SORRT & Department of Radiology and Imaging and College Of Radiological Sciences -2018 held at Dr. Jeyasekharan Medical Trust, Nagercoil, TamilNadu.
Oral presentation of Safety and Efficacy in Fluoroscopy in SCISRT 2018- By ISRT Team Kerela Chapter held at Kerala Forest Research Institute, Peechi, Thrissur.
Participation in 4th SCSIRT- “ADVANCES IN RADIOGRAPHY AND IMAGING SCIENCES” Organized by Society of Indian Radiographers TNPY-2019 held at M.M.M Hospital, Chennai, Tamilnadu.
Participation in International conference of NPRR – 2019 held at Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation - Salem, TamilNadu.
As a Radiographer, I have worked independently without any supervision, handling complex, specialized radiological examinations without guidance from a Radiologist. I typically have performed 25-30 CTs and 15-20 MRIs which include stable, ambulatory, critically ill traumatic, neonates, and anesthetized patients. Highly experienced in the management of patient load and producing quality diagnostic images with adhering to appropriate protocol of the institution and radiation safety principles. Well-trained in high-quality patient care and communication skill. I have volunteered and performed the quality assurance tests for the machines and checked their status periodically.
I have presented seminars on topics such as Automatic Exposure Control [AEC], Handling Trauma Patients in Radiology, Micturating Cisto Urethrogram [MCU], CT Renal Angiogram, 3D And 4D Ultrasound, Dose Reduction Strategy in CT. This really helped me gain expertise in communication and a strong base to my knowledge. Additionally, I have hands-on Training in Management of adverse reactions caused by contrast media, BLS and ACLS, Biomedical Waste Management, Magnetic Safety, Infection Control in Radiology, Fire Safety and Radiation safety and protection from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and research. This would be an added advantage to the organization. In order to fulfil the requirements for the degree of M.Sc., Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology, I wrote a thesis on the subject of “To Retrospectively Assess the Role of MDCT Urogram in the Evaluation of Urinary Tract Pathologies”. Furthermore, to add few personal specifications, I am a quick learner, excellent in managing any crisis and time effectively and as a student mentor to my juniors during seminar presentations at my internship. I now possess the ability to train and educate other clinical staffs, students, and interns. Also, I possess the ability to review images, detect abnormalities and discuss further imaging with Radiologists. I consider my interpersonal skills to support effective communication particularly in English, Professional Medical Ethics, Stress Management, Professional behavior, Positive Attitude, Flexibility with shift timings and availability to work all 7 days in a week including weekends and eagerness to acquire more knowledge and skills as my key strengths. Also got expertise in performing IV cannulation, Quality Assurance testing, Quality Control procedures, Quality Improvement, audit and computer literacy.
To Summarize, as a Diagnostic Radiology Imaging Technologist, I pledge to provide patient care, patient safety and adhere to all the values in the department to pursue my career in a healthcare organization and work tirelessly to improve the lives of people on a larger scale. |
