Dr Gayathri Senapathy

My under-graduation was from Osmania Medical College – Hyderabad, where I passed out with many distinctions, gold medal in Obstetrics-Gynaecology and was awarded the best outgoing Medical Student in AP in 2005 by the JCI.

During my Post Graduation in the Nizam’s Institute of medical sciences, the mentorship of Padmashri Prof Kakarla Subbarao and the structured intradepartmental and interdepartmental discussions, seminars and MDTs instilled the importance of being a clinical radiologist.

As a consultant with Yashoda hospitals from 2011 to 2020, I had wide exposure in every system and pathology, including breast and onco-imaging, intraoperative sonography, image guided interventions and intraoperative MRI for neuro-oncology.

I was part of the liver transplant program in Yashoda hospitals right since its inception in 2015 and trained in in cross sectional and sonographic imaging of liver transplant with Dr Subhash Gupta’s team, Apollo Indraprastha. I have since then been the lead in Liver transplant imaging, initially at Yashoda hospitals and then in AIG hospitals, where the experience with over 600 cases of both living and deceased donor liver transplants has been very enriching and enabled paper presentations and publications.

I was the Associate Director of GI Radiology in AIG hospitals, Hyderabad, which is a major referral centre in India for gastro intestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic pathology, inflammatory bowel disease and motility disorders. The state-of-the-art equipment and procedures, together with the rich case load and variety in Abdominal MRI and CT have enhanced my skills and expertise in abdominal imaging. I am at present the Additional HOD for Body and neuroimaging in Kims- Sunshine hospitals, Hyderabad.

I have been actively and passionately involved both as a faculty and as an organizer in teaching programs conducted by the IRIA and ICRI, especially in abdominal imaging and Radiology Physics. Being a DNB program guide and a faculty in the FRCR training courses of ARI Academy since 2019 has further shaped my teaching skills in not just abdominal imaging but also in basics of general radiology for Post Graduate Training Programs.

I am also passionate about music and a trained classical vocalist.
